PART 2 of 2: Steve Bowman Talks Candidate Forums

A CNL2 VIDEO IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE

Steve Bowman is a Voter Services Officer with the League of Women Voters of the San Juans. He joined Heather Spaulding, Editor of the Journal of the San Juans Islands, and CNL2’s Jeff Noedel in a panel discussion on Tuesday, June 25 at noon.

Part 2 begins on the topic of the need for civility in conversation and political forums.

The San Juan Island candidate forum will be held Tuesday, July 16th at 5:30 p.m. at the Grange featuring the three candidates for County Council Residency District 1.

The Orcas Island candidate forum will be held Thursday, July 18th at 5:30 p.m. featuring the three candidates for County Council Residency District 2.

Steve explains that a primary objective of the forums is to air as many questions from voters as possible.

(8:45) Steve explains why — due to the ferry reliability problems — the local chapter could not take the risk of a Lopez Island forum for the primary election. However, they will conduct a forum on Lopez for this year’s general election.

The forums will be streamed live on Zoom.

(15:45) Heather asks Steve what is the difference between a forum and a debate.

(18:15) Jeff asks if some people think of the League of Women Voters as a Liberal organization.

This CNL2 video is approximately 22-3/4 minutes in duration.
