Fair Weather & Happy Families at Island Rec 32nd Annual Children’s Festival (& 40th Anniversary)

A sunny, breezy day at John O. Linde Community Park brought out hundreds of children and families to Island Rec’s 32nd Annual Children’s Festival. It was also a celebration of Island Rec’s 40th birthday.

Reflecting on the creation of Island Rec in 1984, San Juan Island Park & Recreation District Commission Chairperson Bill Cumming told CNL2, “There was a need that needed to be filled, and I think we’ve done a good job filling it.”

Cumming is the longest-serving Park & Recreation District Commissioner. He was elected to the board in 1997. Other Commissioners are Adam Eltinge, Allison Moalli, Candace Ragsdale, and Scott Zehner.
