3RD MAJOR BENEFIT added for CNL2 Subscribers: CNL2 videos about YOU stay free for all (Thank you #76 J.F.)

CNL2 leadership has added a bold new benefit for Subscribers: unlimited access to 200+ archive videos.
As long as you’re a subscriber, any videos CNL2 has produced about you stay free to the public!
CNL2 videos older than one week are archived. Those 200+ archive videos (and up to 10 new additional videos per week) will be available solely to the 76 CNL2 Subscribers.
For the first week that a video is posted, it will be free to everyone (including non-Subscribers).
On the 8th day, it will be moved to the Subscriber section for unlimited plays. Some independently produced shows — such as “Boxed Out,” the new show hosted by Amanda Lynn which will debut Thu., Aug. 29 — will stay on “the free side” permanently.
But for Subscribers, any content about you isn’t archived. It stays free to non-subscribers as long as you are a Subscriber of CNL2.
“This decision by the CNL2 Media non-profit Board of Directors is in line with the principle of Subscribers paying for the extra bandwidth they use to receive streamed video,” said Jeff Noedel, co-founder of CNL2 and a member of the board. “As CNL2 grows, streaming video bandwidth will become our largest variable cost. So it’s fair to tie the $7/month fee to access to the video archive.
CNL2 has produced nearly 200+ video interviews and live streams of public events, including:
- 2024 boating season opening day ceremony
- Friday Harbor High School 2024 graduation ceremony
- 2024 County Council candidate debates and forums
- Friday Harbor July 4, 2024 parade
Fully half of the 200 video interviews were streamed live.
We’ve video-interviewed statewide leaders, San Juan County leaders, non-profit leaders, business owners, senior citizens, and students.
The second major service for Subscribers is our new automatic email notification to all Subscribers every time we publish a new post. Your email is generated automatically within 30 minutes of publication and includes a summary of the post and a hotlink direct to the CNL2 post. We are getting a very good reaction from Subscribers to this new notification feature.
If you subscribe — for just $7 a month or $77 a year — we can pay some of the bills, and pay at least Jeremy for his work. And we can keep fighting for answers and resolutions to the WSF emergency.
Here’s what will remain FREE OF CHARGE to CNL2 readers, listeners, and viewers:
- FREE! All CNL2 text stories and still photographs
- FREE! All CNL2 audio live streams (internet radio)
- FREE! All CNL2 audio recordings (podcasts)
- FREE! “Sponsored video” (bandwidth paid by an organization or donor)
- FREE! Some CNL2 video samples (live and recorded)
And here’s what CNL2 subscribers are about to receive, exclusively:
- EXCLUSIVE! Video, Video, VIDEO!
- EXCLUSIVE! All the best (and most) video content
- EXCLUSIVE! Unlimited video live streams (shows, events, graduations, debates)
- EXCLUSIVE! Unlimited access to all video recordings (Video On Demand)
To date, 76 subscriptions to CNL2 content have been purchased.
We need more.
Now, we’ve permanently added a 3-year subscription for $199.99 — a 20% discount over the monthly subscription price.
There are now three categories of subscriptions:
- One month, auto-renews until you stop – $7.00
- Annual – $77.00, (12th month is FREE)
- 3-year $199.99 (20% Savings over monthly cost)
For non-subscribers, a video viewer can still access an individual subscriber article for $1. Multiple visitors have already used the $1 per story fee. Once paid, access to that story doesn’t expire.
WHY SUBSCRIPTIONS AT ALL?
Live video streaming bandwidth is expensive.
Someday it will exceed every other line-item expense.
We currently pay $125 per terabyte.
Subscriptions pay for this expensive transmission cost of live video.
If we don’t collect at least a portion of the video transmission costs from video viewers, CNL2 would get “upside down” on live video streaming costs as our audience grows and we would lose too much money to remain viable.
Subscriptions are deeply motivating and encouraging to CNL2’s leaders and volunteers.
Other sources of revenue for CNL2 are donations, grants, and underwriting. CNL2 MEDIA is a non-profit Washington corporation. An application with the IRS for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status is pending.
We thank you.
Thanks for your help!
You are so welcome Suzy!
