Town citizens approved funding for street improvement projects for ten more years with the renewal of the Transportation Benefit District sales tax.

“The Town is incredibly grateful for the community’s support in protecting this critical funding,” said Town Administrator Denice Kulseth.  “Your support will continue to help with the safety and quality of our streets and sidewalks.”

She noted tax proceeds have contributed to capital improvement projects on Price, Web, and Nash Streets; Tucker and Blair Avenues; and Marguerite Place.  Future projects will improve Grover and Nichols Streets.

This special sales tax is paid by all who shop in Friday Harbor, allowing visitors and locals who use town streets to share in the cost of the town’s infrastructure.  As a renewal, this .02% tax will not increase sales tax which remains at 8.7%.

The Town’s six-year transportation improvement program is posted at www.fridayharbor.org.  Questions regarding this sales and use tax may be directed to the Town Administrator at (360)378-2810 or [email protected].
