Orcas Island Fire & Rescue Covers Mullis St. Firehouse Allowing SJI Firefighters to Attend Awards Banquet

At 4:30 p.m. yesterday, four first responders with Orcas Island Fire & Rescue traveled on the Department’s Engine #25, which was driven onto the M/V Tillikum bound for Friday Harbor.

In Friday Harbor, the pumper was driven straight to the firehouse at 1011 Mullis St., where the Orcas volunteer staff went on duty, allowing San Juan Island Fire & Rescue staff to attend an awards banquet.

The Orcas Fire first responders who covered the Mullis Station were (pictured above, from left to right) Will Marlow, firefighter/EMT; Lieutenant Barry Gehl, firefighter; Lieutenant Kat Barnard, firefighter/EMT and department Public Information Officer; and Lieutenant Kevin McCoy, firefighter.

The Orcas crew stayed on duty until 6:00 a.m. today, when they took Engine 25 back to Orcas Island.

San Juan Fire will return the favor when Orcas has its award banquet.
