In a Thursday news conference in Seattle, Washington Governor Bob Ferguson announced he intends to visit the San Juans on July 15 to talk with citizens about Washington State Ferries.

He said, “We’re tentatively scheduled to have me up in the San Juan Islands I think on July 15. My team will have the details on that. For a visit up there to (communicate with) folks in that community. Business folks, individuals on the impacts up there. And to communicate to them very directly, so they’re hearing from me and my team about what our plans are and to hear from them on how to improve the service, as well.”

On Wednesday, January 8 — one week before his inauguration as governor — Ferguson held his first public event as governor-elect when he held “a listening session” which started at WSF’s Mukilteo terminal, continued in a tour of a ferry engine room, and concluded with a town hall meeting in Clinton on Whidbey Island.

SanJuans.Today was there. Our coverage of that event is here.
