San Juan County Council members-elect Kari McVeigh (residency district 1) and Justin Paulsen (residency district 2) are in the middle of a three day training program for new council members.
Held in Olympia, the conference is known as “NEO,” which can stand for “Newly Elected Officials” or “Networking Education Opportunity.” NEO is presented by the Washington State Association of Counties.
This afternoon, San Juans.Today reached the new “electeds” and asked them how the training was going.
McVeigh wrote, “This has been a great opportunity to network with other new council members and to listen and learn about the myriad of issues and mandates that all of us will face in our council work.”
Paulsen wrote, “I’m happy to be meeting with other elected county leaders to share information. It’s clear that we share many common challenges across the state and this has been a great opportunity to listen and learn from on another.”
McVeigh and Paulsen are scheduled to take the oath of office at the County Courthouse on December 30, two days prior to officially taking office. They will join Jane Fuller (residency district 3) on the new council. Fuller is in the middle of her four-year term.
