A Moment of Grace
Photographed at 9:51 a.m. today (Sunday, May 7, 2023) near Sportsman’s Lake on San Juan Island, this is a Red-Tailed Hawk in midflight. The raptor’s impressive wingspan is approximately four feet, a symbol of the grace and power of this magnificent bird of prey. The hawk had just launched into flight, eastbound, from an abandoned power pole.
