EDC presents Datapalooza! – a statistics and demographics event for San Juan County

Need more data and information to make knowledgeable decisions about your business or as a community leader? Join the EDC for their eighth annual Datapalooza! luncheon event on Wednesday, December 4th from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Orcas, sponsored by Island Market. The event will feature noted speakers Dr. Anneliese Vance-Sherman, Chief Labor Economist for the Washington State Employment Security Department (ESD), and James McCafferty, Director of the Western Washington University Center for Economic & Business Research (CEBR). Advance tickets are required.

The event will include 1.5 hours of in-depth data and analysis of our economy and demographics, plus great conversation regarding our community and economy, as well as a deli boxed lunch. This year’s program, sponsored in part by Island Market, will include presentations by Dr. Vance-Sherman and James McCafferty. The presentations will explore our region’s economy and demographics – past, present and future – including industry, employment and sales data, and current trends. This in-depth analysis will enable leaders and businesspeople to make informed decisions about issues that affect our community and economy.

Dr. Vance-Sherman is the Chief Labor Economist for the Washington State Employment Security Department. She holds a Ph.D. in economic geography and a Master of Science in applied economics from the University at Buffalo. Anneliese serves on the boards of the Pacific Northwest Regional Economic Conference and the Seattle Economics Council.

McCafferty is the Director at the Center for Economic and Business Research at Western Washington University. He has an MBA from Western Washington University, a Bachelor of Science in Journalism/Public Relations from the University of Oregon, is a Certified Global Business Professional, serves as an Officer for the Seattle Economics Council.
